Alpha Bench Summer Programs - Coding and Robotics

Overview

Learn and have fun with engaging, hands on activities designed to introduce programming and robotics. They will learn programming patterns common to all languages using the powerful yet easy to learn Python programming language. In addition, they will build and program Raspberry Pi controlled robots.

Camp days will be split evenly between programming and robotics. You can expect your child to learn about the three pillars of programming: Sequence, Selection and Repetition. The curriculum covers good coding practice, variables, data structures, looping, branching and debugging. We will be writing computer games and graphic generating programs utilizing procedural and functional programming styles, and finish the week with an introduction to object oriented programming.

Alpha Bench summer camp is designed for children ages 9 – 14. Students will need to bring a laptop with Python 3.6 installed; both Windows and MAC OS are fine. Students should have administrative privileges to allow for the installation of any missing Python libraries.

Programs will be held on the Campus of Bentley University.
